An Ode to the Copper Queen.
far out on the horizon, a single statue stands
a glowing warm reminder, built by human hands
she calls to all who see her, come, abide with me
in this place of purpose, of opportunity
of bronze and copper cast is she, this lady tall and fair
her torch lights the horizon, guiding people there
she welcomes them with open arms, for all the world to see
declaring love and openness, she yearns fro those who flee
from the worlds oppression, from tyranny and fear
drawing those who would abide, pulling them so near
meant to be a beacon, to the hopeful and the brave
she resides in quiet strength, it’s peace she truly craves
Lady Liberty, America’s dream; she stands upon the shore
calling out across the sea, to those who flee from war
and long to live a better life, who simply want to be
and her desire is so evident, to set the captive free.
