A poem about someone’s life ending, but not forgetting the life that they lived.

Dearly beloved,
Gather together have we
To celebrate a beautiful life,
Taken on this day

Neither blessing nor curse
We all reunite for this tragic event
As we follow behind a black hearse

We honor a life,
That we will greatly miss

But the life they lead we cannot dismiss
It is sad to see their ending was so near
Remember every blessed day spent with us here

We’ll light the candles,
and say our last farewell
Put a single rose on the casket,
and pray they will make it to heaven when we hear the final bells

This reminds me of when my friend’s mom passed away. Her memorial service was filled with so much laughter about what she was like when she was alive. It was a true celebration of the life she led

due to our own selfishness of wanting them to remain, it is hard sometimes to concentrate on their wonderful memories ~ great poem

The dead cannot care for themselves! It takes caring and thoughtful people with reasonable resources to do so–they are the angels–and your poem beckons the angels. To me, there is no worst personal degrading than not having the proper burial rite. Every person to a person should have one last day–to reunite neither blessing nor curse–do you know what I mean. God poem in the message it attemps to acheive! Great job!

Death is sadness but it is a fact of life, for every birth there is a death.
