A mother speaks to her child about how to succeed in life and hopes that he listens and learns from her own mistakes in order to prevent bad things coming his way as they had her.
Last Words to My Child
Can you sleep my darling child,
On this bed of nails that I brought into our lives?
Forget, if you can, what is in the past.
Demons may one day try to taunt you,
Stand strong, stand firm and it will not last.
Focus only on what you have made your ultimate goals.
Put behind you your puppy loves,
As well as all of those that seem to hate
Bury all of the bad deep in your mind.
Focus only on what will help you succeed in this life.
Believe in yourself and the rules you live by,
Never stray away from the things that are right.
Look for good in all that you and others do
This in turn, will allow you to make your optimism to become true.
Believe that the world is on your side
And if you are strong, nothing can eliminate your peace of mind.
Be too noble for anger as well as too strong for fear
I guarantee in the end you will persevere.
My darling child please learn from my words and past mistakes
So you can sleep in the bed you will one day make.
