Yeah – I’ve got the Laundry Day blues and whites, and sheets and towels…

It amazes me how four people can generate this much laundry. I have actually had dreams (plural) about piles of laundry, growing - the colours and whites getting mixed up as I try to sort them… I mentioned these dreams to a friend. She said that maybe I have sorting issues…

Sheets and towels, pillow cases, jeans;
I see them in my sleep!
The loads are piling up again;
It makes we want to weep!

A load of whites, a load of darks;
It never seems to end.
A gentle wash for unmentionables;
We all wear them, don’t pretend.

I check each label carefully;
I’ve learned this lesson right.
My brand new blazer, oh so chic;
Now fits way too tight!

I’m thankful for my laundry room;
A washer and dryer pair.
Grandma had a scrubbing board;
And dried them in the air.

Oh yes, I have the laundry blues;
I’m sure you have them, too.
But when everything is folded, clean;
Next week it starts anew!

    You have described the way so many of us feel on laundry day so well. Fortunately now there are only the two of us it is not so bad and Hubby is a dab hand at hanging the laundry out. Nice work.

    Laundry, is neverending. I thought once our children left home I would not have as much. But two people can still make a lot of dirty clothes. Well written poem.

    Sigh. I had a real, good working acquaintance with a rub board when my kids were little. But even with a modern washing machine, you still have to sort, put them in the machine, take them out of the machine, fold and put them away.
