From a dark, twinkling night
for you and me
invisible creatures
only we can see.
Here in the darkness
is the electric sky.
There! In the shadows
is a toast for you and I.
Down in the clearing,
beyond the trees,
is a beautiful melody
floating in the breeze.
From carnival clowns
to cotton candy
and the little child trying
to win a Raggedy Andy.
Ferris wheels, teapot rides,
and bumper cars,
to the freak show
inside the tent
with invisible scars.
So, you see,
I’ve shown you
beauty and fright;
but sometimes we
make up our own night.
