A prose poem, simply…

A constant diminuendo

Slender ringed fingers
Shuffling our lives
Like a pack of cards

The slow dirge of rain on the tin roof

Sickly yellow
The sun

The jagged teeth of time
The shaded lamps
Slippery green frogs

A weary phoenix
Jaded
And then
the dance of the night birds

you move
and an electric blue haze surrounds you
the shredded black cumulus
and the tangerine sun setting in your eyes
are all reminders
of the transient nature of love
