I love lazing in the garden absorbing the scents and the sounds around me.

I am lying in the sunshine

With its warm rays on my face,

Hearing squeals of children

As they play their games of chase.

There’s music in the distance

Of which I’m suddenly aware

And the tempting scents of  hot dogs

Wafting through the evening air.

Above me leaves move lazily

At the gentlest sign of breeze.

The roses share their perfume

With the busy bumblebees.

It’s times like this I dream of

When the winter days arrive,

And we wrap ourselves up warmly

In the hope that we’ll survive.

Yes, this moment of pure bliss

Will see me through the months ahead,

And keep my spirits raised

When icy days are here instead.
