Some days, life can really get to us, leave us grouchy and irritated and thinking and doing all those things we wouldn’t. You know it is true. How do we deal with all those daily aggravations and not let them knock us down?

LEARNING TO DUCK AND DODGE

It’s those little things that get to us,

turn our smiles upside-down,

those daily irritations

that knock us around

and cause us to trip and stumble,

even detour off God’s path

but God will teach us how to duck and dodge

if we will only ask.

You bet, the devil is out to get us

and he’s throwing all those little darts,

those irritating little pains

that stab our mind and prick our hearts.

Satan knows when big things happen

we go running straight to God

so he keeps throwing little darts

until our thinking is flawed;

those things in life that aggravate,

just enough to really irritate

and those little things keep piling up

until our burden is great,

until between dawn and sunset

our day is one giant mistake

and we wish we could live it over,

go back, re-crawl out of bed,

undo the things that we have done,

take back thoughts, words we’ve said.

It’s not big things that keep us down

but those little things that irritate,

all those petty aggravations,

little things that seal our fate.

We think, do things we wouldn’t

and we wander away,

a sheep lost in the briar patch

because we didn’t pray

about the little things,

those darts that spoil our day.

God is standing by to help us.

He will teach us how to duck and dodge

and avoid the darts that Satan throws

but first we have to come to God.

God won’t interfere or intervene

if we don’t seek His help

but He will even help with little things

we don’t deal well with our self

if we would only ask Him.

God will gladly help us,

turn our frown upside-down

and shield us from those little darts

Satan keeps throwing ‘round…

But first we have to ask Him.

We are not puppets on a string.

We each must make our own choices

on how we deal with little things.
