Young voters feel put down by adults.

Tell me I don’t know anything
I haven’t felt the pain
Tell me you won’t listen
To me it’s all the same

But to me you are a rock
Worn hard from the days gone by
You won’t listen
Or even let me try

How much do I need to hurt before you listen to a word
How much do I need to feel
Before my voice is heard?
How agonizing need it be
How brutal or brash
Just for you to listen to five seconds without the backlash

I live just like you
Maybe my choices haven’t been cruel
But I don’t think pain is the answer as you tend to do

I think you’re afraid to hear what I have to say
That you couldn’t bare to give me the time of day
Because if you agree you lose points in your game
That states you’re above me, we are not the same

But if you just listen
Maybe you will see
A new point to see from
That isn’t you vs. me

I know I’m young and you’ve got years on me
But I walk the same streets, I do the same deeds
The world doesn’t stop spinning
The city never sleeps
But lets start a new beginning
Before our chances retreat

To prove that life is what matters
That it exists after pain
That no matter the hardships,
Our hearts beat the same.
