An interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer.

In the midst of today, and all that it may bring,
may we honor your name, truly treat You as King.
In your goodness we trust, we submit to your will,
Not fearing tomorrow, knowing our needs you’ll fill.

Have mercy, dear Lord, on all our failings you see.
You have no debt owed to us that merit’s this plea.
Gives us hearts willing to forgive our fellow man,
Knowing it is only by your Spirit we can.

When evil attempts our pure joy to overthrow,
Strengthen our resolve that Your Great Love we will show.
Let us not be tempted towards the ways of man,
But in the Fruit of the Spirit follow your plan.

For of You and through You and to You, the Word sings,
do all things exist and to everyone life brings.
For You are the beginning, with You is no end,
All of eternity in Your Presence we’ll spend.

We should all be able, ready and willilng to write words of praise to the one who died to save us from our sins. The best poem of the day and so well written, thanks for letting me read this amazing piece.

Quite good. That could very easily be turned into a hymn of the church.

This is excellent! I wish it had gone up here a week ago…I’d have taken it to read in church last Sunday. We were discussing the Lord’s Prayer in services.

Beautiful interpretation, Katie. And coming from your agnostic friend, who ducks most religious pieces, quite a compliment.
