Let’s not lose sight of what Christmas really means, and try to bring about a more peaceful world.

This year as we wait for that very special day

When a new baby boy came to show us the way,

Let’s stop and think of those in far away lands

And pray to God as we join our hands.

*

Let’s pray that peace will descend on a world torn by war.

And think of our soldiers and the sick and the poor.

Let’s aim to solve problems without the need to fight

And learn to live together in more harmonious light.

*

Let’s think of the children whose parents have died

Whose sad eyes show how they are feeling inside.

Let’s think of the maimed and the sacrifices made

So that war torn nations to peace can be laid.

*

Let’s not forget the plight of our elderly friends

And this Christmas give them all the help we can send.

Let’s do what we can for the discomfort of man

And think of others whenever we can.

*

Then when Christmas day dawns with presents and tree

We can enjoy festive fun with our family,

And move into a more hopeful and happier New Year

Without all the fighting and poverty and fear.

Beautiful poem ma’am. Yes peace, we will never give up about this one.

  • 1hopefulman on Jan 7, 2011

It’s good that we desire peace. However too many people don’t want peace or want peace on their terms and that will never work. There will be peace when God wars with those that have hate in their hearts. First God’s war of Armageddon, then there will be world peace when the wicked are gone and Jesus the Prince of Peace rues the earth. Soon, we pray and hope!
