Protest letter for Brian Stack to offer a public apology to Rafael Correa.

Greetings Mayor Brian Stack.

First of all let me wish you good luck and success in your duty as the mayor of Union City. You Mr. Stack, you are a democratically elected authority, so I’ll try my best to show you the respect you didn’t show to the Ecuadorian nation.  You des-invited the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa to the event where he would meet his emigrant constituents and that is totally disrespectful.   The intention of this letter is to demand a public apology for this misjudgment from your part.

We know you took that insulting decision based on claims from a special interest group that does not represent the Union City constituency, and of course, it does not represent the Latino community neither.  However, we cannot call ourselves a democratic nation if we want to impose on other sovereign leaders orders of who they can meet or who they cannot meet.  I hope you take my claim very seriously, specially during these times when the entire planet has witness how we, the United States of America, did not stop the execution of Troy Davis when Pope Benedict XVI, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter among millions of people around the planet requested for years to save Mr. Davis’s life. Remember that at the same time we killed Troy Davis, the Iranian government released the American hikers Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer.

Mr. Stack I hope you take the right decision this time.  Please offer an official public apology to the Ecuadorian people for des-inviting the democratically elected president Rafael Correa and keep this in mind Mr. Stack; Iran released two prisoners, and the United Stated murdered a man with no evidence he was a criminal, and now we are condemning Ecuador for having commercial relations with Iran?  Receive my best wishes Mr. Stack.

Sincerely

José Antonio Ramos
