Poem for the one gone…
Letter to Mike
With a whole world between the two of us,
Separated by seas of silence,
This evening, scattered indelible memories come to my mind.
The night spent on Al-Kout beach, when the moon brought us closer for the first time.
The day you carried me in your arms over the threshold of your home.
Our secret unbreakable codes: mbtb, mum, cwtsum…
Our endless intense chats…Scheherazade’s bed time stories for the new Haroun Al Rashid of these days in order to avoid execution at dawn!)
Our small disagreements…
Watching “Jane Eyre” together.
Shared fragments of literature: “Half of my days I cannot bear not touching you. The rest of the time I feel it doesn’t matter if I ever see you again.
It isn’t the morality, it is how much you can bear”.
The rest of the time does matter actually!
The rest of the time did really matter!
The rest of time hurt my feet, my heart and my soul.
Then Shakespeare…
Then Luxor…
The seven times we turned around the sacred beetle at the Luxor Temple.
The magic, the spiritual and physical communion we felt at the National Museum of Luxor.
Yes, sometimes a museum can be the most romantic spot on earth!
Your beaming smile waiting for me, a certain morning by the Nile.
Our code to recognize each other in the afterlife… “how about that?! soft and tender caress on a blond forearm”
The touch, the smell, the smile, the kisses and hugging, the perfect way our bodies fit together.
A Sunday night spent at Paul’s Café, aware only of the two of us,
forgetting the rest of the world and its troubles for a couple of hours.
Peace of mind and restored harmony.
One minute.
And then, all the codes got broken.
The rest of time hurt my feet, my heart, my soul.
Miss you now and for the eternity.
