Sometimes it is so difficult for the heart to let go of the people or things it has come to love. But the moment will come in everyone’s lives when they will have to face that moment of decision.
I heard a little wisdom
That’s worth the time to share.
The words are often mentioned
When one’s love no longer cares.
While that’s certainly a truth of love
It’s not the only case.
This wisdom has an application
Every person’s going to face.
The wisdom may be spoken thus:
As “letting go” of a person or thing.
It’s said when one is ill or dies
Or to pawn an engagement ring.
It happens when one loses work
And no other job is found.
It happens when a whole life’s work
Gets burned down to the ground.
It happens when a dream has died
And no other fills its place.
To all three sexes, young or old,
No matter what their race.
I realize the time has come
For me to let go some things.
I’m aging quick and illness grows,
Mortality hurls its stings.
I’m not thinking I’m down to minutes
When I talk about the end.
But the wisdom of letting go all lusts
Has become my new best friend.
