Poetry; thick and rich with meaning.

On the one hand, pay no attention
To what goes on in the other hand.
If you get caught in the act of looking,
An ace gets raised into your hole.

Conceive that diamonds are really clubs,
Used to beat down those without them.
Conceive that hearts are really spades,
Used by the people to dig their own graves.

This House is full of suicide kings.
And all the kings’ drama queens
Lay down a lovely spread for you;
Let the blue chips fall as they will.

The magic dealer already knows
That any card which you select
Will soon enough have disappeared,
His seeming is so well prepared.

Is this the Game of Fifty-Two
That the wise Tehuti gave us?
Maybe this was, on other watches.
Now it’s run down in your hands.
