A lament about liberty being trashed, and the wish for it to be returned!
LIBERTY’S LAST GLEAMING
The love, the love of country great,
Can’t stand to see its sorry state,
From mind conceived great liberty,
Its People poisoned, no longer free,
The Rights guaranteed inside its charter,
Have been denied – simply bartered,
Heads up, heads up the die is cast,
Without our Founding, we can’t last,
To die for naught, for others gain,
Is treason on its face again,
So dream of liberty once conceived,
Now dashed to pieces and merely grieved,
Taxed and penalized, ignoring laws,
Our representatives show great flaws,
Return, return to Founding’s grace,
Let’s start once more Liberty’s pace.
