A poem of encouragement.
Your eyes reflect
a mystery deeply buried
in the shadows of your past.
Varied emotions dance
in those pools of blue
carefully shrouded
with neutral shades
of indifference and complacency.
Surely you have subdued
all the pain and miseries well.
But like a hungry flame,
they lick up everything
that comes in their way-
destroying friendships,
obliterating dreams,
vanquishing hopes,
breaking lives.
Why do you keep holding on
to the failures of the past?
Why are you afraid to let go
of those unpleasant memories?
Are they as precious as life itself?
How can you move on
if you wallow in your despair
and dwell in your loss?
Life goes on no matter what.
The earth does not stop revolving
to wait for you,
so shed those extra baggage
that slows down your journey.
All around you
are goodness and beauty
and within your heart
lies hope –
dormant yet powerful.
