A poem about the speed of life and the barely unnoticed beauty of the planet…
Marooned on a bright blue watery planet
He floated in a speeding string of days
enjoying exquisite, flashing, brilliant moments
savouring images in a million ways…
Life is images burnt upon the brain
fleeting moments, sweet and deep
long enough to keep the species,
and give a meaning before the sleep
He loved the land, he loved the oceans
fretting not with growing age
wondering at all the miracles surrounding,
and crying out in peace, not rage
In all the glories of a fertile planet,
he decided – what is plants and what is weeds
content to savour the wonders of creation
sensing, treasuring all the seeds
Timeless beauty of the glorious heavens
seen from the vastness of the ocean
opens minds, but tortures passions,
powerless at man’s blind destruction
Before the final warm embrace unfolds
welcome as a spring dawn
witness a thousand exquisite things
and pass on without making harm
Man complacent with the glories here on earth
took himself to outer space
he’s creative in a thousand ways
but could not save the human race….
