It is alarming to see Single Moms punishing themselves to grab their the then infatuated lover’s attention. Isn’t it time to move on, and focus on their growing children’s needs?

Disturbing are the paths abandoned

Where hurt souls linger, bludgeoned

Hiding behind their own shadows

While lighted blossoms reveal meadows.

Come friend, step right out

Shed the low self-esteem doubt

Don’t cut your young veins

Live life, using those reins.

Single Mothers, your childs alone

You can’t desert life undone

Don’t be herded like cattle

Look ahead, wage a battle.

Time you gave up self-pity

Painting pink, heal the city

Be the cane and the crutch

Dribble ahead till Death’s touch

I really loved this. I recently read an article on the same website where a mother talks of how she is mean to her own children because she was ditched by husband/lover. The poem is poignant and touching.
