A poem about being too harsh with a fragile love.

You illuminate the world,

or maybe it’s just mine.

You make it easier

to find myself

something I’ve been

searching for

since the day I left

childhood.

But your light is too bright,

it tempts me.

I was never content

to catch the lightning bugs

and watch them glow

behind the glass;

I smashed them on the asphault

and drew patterns

that shined briefly,

then faded away forever.
