It been way too long since I have seen Lightning Bugs.

Lightning Bugs
17 June 09

Last night I saw a lightning bug
Many people call them fireflies
It had been so long since I had seen one
That I did not know what was before my eyes

I had just turned out the light
And was going to get in my bed
But there in the window was a little blinking light
For a moment I felt a little dread

Then another beside it began to blink
Making this sight even more eerie
So I went right to the window
Wondering what I would see

I must have scared them away
That is when I saw the blinking fly
Then smiled I did so big
Knowing now it was just a firefly

Then to the back door I opened it wide
Hoping and hoping for what I could see
The back yard was full of them
As far away as I could see

I felt like a kid again
Watching the lights blinking
What a wonderful sight
For me to fall asleep thinking

Good one! The grandkids were chasing and carefully catching fireflies the night before the big storm.

I sure miss seeing things like lightning bugs, lady bugs. We don’t have either my way.

Cute. Takes me back to when I was a kid on the farm. We would catch them in jars and use them to play tag in the dark. We always let them go after a couple of games, though.
