I felt my heart quicken

I paced back and forth

willing it all to go away

I could only imagine your fear and pain

Thunder clapped my ears

it was like you were on loudspeaker

every sense was heightened

I could only assume the worst

Outside they shouted and cursed

I was instructed not to call the police

but that went against everything in me.
