About trying to be unique.

I am a vegetarian, follower of sacreligion,
Writer, poet, singer, tongue like Horace, face like Helen, and I
paint, but abstract only ’cause I can’t get my proportions right,
and I can multitask, I am intelligent and spritely, I’m a
hero in my music, and I promise there’s a difference between
me and all those other teenagers shouting, “Rebellion!” “Anarchy!”
And managing to be depressed although they’ve no idea what’s
happening, those lemmings are redeeming the last hippie generation.

Listen to me, I am unique,
Just like everybody else,
I’m looking for nirvana,
In someone else’s hell.

I can quote the lyrics of bands you’ve never heard of, I wear
Only skirts and corsets in these modern times, and I
smell like too much Jasmine oil, at least when I play dress-up, which is
Every single day I play the star of my own life. I wear my
Hair down to my hips, in a braid with which I whip all the
nasty little obstacles on my metaphoric path, I’ve read the
Bible and the Dictionary, Macbeth and the Amores, and I
wonder if my thinking means a thing to anyone.

Aren’t we all looking for something to break from. Yes uniqueness is the key of the modern age. Especially when it comes to thinking. It is good to see that all hope is not lost.

A beautiful and, yes, very unique poem! I’m a painter of the abstract, too, because I can’t get the proportions right.

Unique, you have to be original to be unique, and who’s original? Mark Twain said something about how great it must have been to be Adam, if he said something great he knew no one had said it before. Eve didn’t get a chance to say much.
