Little Caesars Bowl: Florida International VS Toledo On ESPN
The Florida International Golden Panthers are playing against the Toledo Rockets this December 26, 2010 for the Little Caesars Bowl. The game is being held at the Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The live coverage of this college bowl game is available on ESPN channel.
Toledo and Florida International are going to tour Detroit for a bowl game and are excited about it though it is not an interesting place for the game.
The Rockets are making a comeback of sorts, playing in a postseason Little Caesars Pizza Bowl opposing FIU after a gap of 5 years, with FIU playing its first bowl game in history on Sunday.
Though Toledo (8-4) have played in the bowl which was earlier known as Motor City Bowl, thrice in the last 10 years, they have not played any postseason game since they beat UTEP 45-13 in GMAC Bowl in 2005.
The Rockets have improved considerably since their poor showing in the last 2 years in which they lost 16 games, thanks to their coach Tim Beckman who is running in the second year of his term. They finished a creditable 2nd in the West Division of the Mid-American Conference losing only thrice, and that too against teams playing in the bowls, such as Bois State, Northern Illinois and Arizona.
Both the previous encounters between these two schools went to the road team. Rockets won 41-31 last year exacting revenge against Panthers for a 35-16 loss in 2008.
Though Toledo coming to the bowl is a creditable achievement, really surprising is the entrance of FIU which is playing only its 9th season at any level and only the 6th year in FBS. 20% of Golden Panther’s wins have come this year with 30 victories in total.
