This is a realistic horror about what the consquences are to crime. You always go in one way and come out another, hardened by the criminals you do time with.Society itself punishes you, hardens you and slaps you in with a bunch of convicts who know the rules of the game. You then become aware that you either do or die and inevitably become an even worse criminal than what you were when you went in, straying from all pupose, leading you down the devils path of enlightment. Perhaps we know someone like this,or have a family member like this, but no one ever likes to admit it as though they themselves are the ones that committed the crime.I wrote this for my brother.

Within the depths
Of an earthly hell
One that bears his name
Owned by him
Shackled and chained
Signed and sealed
In his domain

You let him in
You opened the door
But the day has come
To settle the score

The mirrored image
Reflects a hard cold beast
Signed and sealed
Your life is leased

Riddled with hate
Fueling the desires
Riddled with anger
Deadly are the fires

Engulfed with pain
Lies and deceit
Suffer your transgressions
Struggle with defeat

Fours walls cannot contain thee
It does not care how you feel
It infests you like a parasite
But no turning back
You have made the deal

Agonize and suffer
You now feel the pain
Was your soul really worth it
Signed and sealed
Just what exactly did you gain

Your an animal
Stripped of all rights
Ironically you live
To try and survive the fights

Murderer
Racist
Pedophile
Rapist

Trapped with them
You’ll never be the same
Locked up
Behind those four walls
It is all just the devils game

Very descriptive poetry with a damp chill to it and a strong ring of truth. Well done.

Sounds like true events. The prose is very fine work….very well written and so revealing and personal. That is so terrible though. What a waste. I’ve been down the road of the wild side of town, even crossed the tracks but never that fine line that seperates cruelty and merry pranks that hurt no one. Very intriguing read and write. Impressive!

Fantastic, Tanya! You really can write well, including this poem. When reading, I can feel that crimes are everywhere in this world, really scary. What you wrote are true and yet the poem is wonderfully written. Keep writing..

Hi Tan. I read this poem.. Realized that it was too real, and then read that it was from your bro’s life. You have captured the essence so well. I hope your brother is doing ok now

Reminds me of Sylvester Stallone movie with the same title. A style of poetry which will be treasured by those doing time in prison, Tanya.

good poem tanya! the best we can do though is to do our best to remember the good times….and pray that someday there will be more, charles is a good person that lost his way, someday he will find that person again….and that hell he is in will be nothing but a memorie…he has a little one counting on it!
