Take a tour of this great capital with me.

London the capital of our great nation,

Holds so many sights for all to view,

With a history of over two thousand years,

It’s a place no other city can outdo.

Image via Wikipedia

*

A trip on the spectacular London Eye

Is an adventure that must not be missed.

It will prove such a wonderful experience

And should be right at the top of your list.

Image via Wikipedia

*

Take a tour with the Yeoman Warders

To the much dreaded Traitors Gate,

In the notorious Tower of London

Where many famous folk met their fate.

Image via Wikipedia

*

A visit to Buckingham Palace

To watch the guards stand on parade,

Can often provide much amusement

When the change-over is displayed.

Image via Wikipedia

*

Take a walk on the Millennium Bridge

Which really wobbled in earlier days,

And then saunter along the river bank

Where all the famous sights will amaze.

*

Visit the museums and many art galleries

Where works of all kinds can be seen,

From moving prehistoric dinosaurs

To impressive paintings and flying machines.

Image via Wikipedia

*

And don’t forget Madam Tussauds

For brilliant waxworks so true to life.

Then visit London’s darkest dungeons

Where poor prisoners led lives filled with strife.

If it’s history and ceremony you’re after

There is no doubt that London’s the best.

It has so much to offer the traveller

And he cannot fail but be impressed.

As a Londoner myself, I love your poem as it elegantly describes a number of the lovely sites and places which London has to offer. Thank you Christine for sharing.

PS – recommend you submit this poem to the London Underground, etc, as they are looking for poems like these to put up on billboards around their stations.

CR…spectacular armchair travelogue…brought back many memories of too many years ago when I celebrated my 21st birthday and tried to scratch my initials on an outside window at the top of St. Paul’s Cathedral (for shame)…I voted that I liked this one of course…hope you are well…thanks and take care
