About missing life while you’re waiting for someone.
I sit alone thinking of you.
I’m wondering what we’re going to do.
The phone rings and it is my friend
Wanting to know if we can hang out this weekend.
I say I don’t know. I’m waiting for you.
He then hangs up. It’s a quarter ’til 2.
Sitting alone in my bed by the phone
oh why oh why am I all alone?
The phone rings again. It is my other friend
wanting to know can we hang out this weekend?
I don’t know man. Let’s wait and see
Maybe some other time would be better for me.
It’s almost six. It’s not too late.
He can still call me for heaven’s sake.
The phone rings again. It’s my friend Brian
wanting to know can we hang out again.
I don’t know Brian. It’s not very late.
He could still call me and we’ll go on a date.
Sitting alone in my bed by the phone
oh why, oh why am I all alone?
I stare at the clock now It’s turning late.
I guess I’m not going to go on that date.
So, I call my friend’s Brian and David you see.
But they’ve already gone out to catch a movie.
So I sit all alone in my bed by the phone
thinking maybe next time I won’t be alone.
I’ll say yes to my friend’s in the first place you see
I will not let loneliness get the best of me
And if you shall call me before my friend’s do
I’ll thank my lucky stars and do something with you!
