I was inspired to write this poem because of my anticipation and longing for the man I have fallen in love with, the first time I saw him. We never got the chance to exchange phone numbers. And, it took us weeks before seeing each other again.
Long to See You
Thoughts of you linger
Sights of you become my hunger
Your voice kept rewinding
Your memories left me unspoken.
Anticipation has risen
Patience was dwindling
Everything seemed uncertain
Seeing you once again becomes a dream.
I count not just the days that bright
But the hours, the minutes, and the seconds of each night
But weeks had gone by, and you were nowhere in sight
Yet longings for you never cease to subside
I wondered, perhaps, you were just a trick
“Cause I may probably need a reality check
Yet, I wish for luck that we may get in contact
I hope on my next trip, I could see you on it.
It”s worth the while
Seeing you with a smile,
To talk with you, like I’ve known you
All the years that went by.
