A pantoum about the negative attributes which people see in themselves.
Looking Glass Self
I always try to avoid the mirror
thinking of how I must appear.
When looked upon with such disgrace.
I wish myself to another place.
Thinking of how I must appear
brings me nothing but utmost fear.
I wish myself to another place
somewhere off in outer space.
Brings me nothing but utmost fear,
knowing that I’ll soon be here;
somewhere off in outer space.
Removed, expelled, displaced
Knowing that I’ll soon be here
makes me want to disappear.
to me I wish I were effaced
left without a single trace
I always try to avoid the mirror
A reflection giving off a sneer
If only I could just erase
this ugly thing I call a face.
