There is a very large difference

Between smiling ear-to-ear,

And being honestly happy…

It doesn’t matter

How large someone is smiling

There may still be those tears

That they fight back constantly

And practice their best smile

Just so you can’t tell

How badly they want to

Break down and cry…

They can seem like

The happiest person you know

While in reality;

It’s the complete opposite…

Don’t take their smile and laugh

For granted

And don’t think just because

You’ve never seen them frown

That they’re happy and okay…

Look in their eyes,

The ones that will never look in yours,

See the dam they’ve built

Keeping in the tears

And remember that sooner or later

The dam is going to break…
