After my father died.

The Thank you never said
The I love you gone unheard
Maybe with time they’ll come
Pouring out like water
From a mountain spring
I know time will ease the pain
But I’ll never forget you
Or the time we had together
Though it was short
And the last few years bitter
I’ve loved you just the same
I wish I had let you know
Just how I felt
My chance has passed
Stolen away by
An unlucky twist of fate
Now the only way to see you
Is through pictures and memories
I visit you everyday
Just to say I love you Dad
Even if that visit is
With pictures and memories.

In memory of William C. Gruver
