A tribute to my husband. (Eat your heart out ladies)

New day starts with his cup of coffee;

Newspaper’s open to read what’s inside.

“Morning, Sweets” he says as she enters,

Still slightly groggy and rubbing her eyes.

He’s bright and cheery, ready for the day,

“Morning”, she mumbles, giving her reply.

Asks of her night, did she get plenty of rest?

Simple conversation as they start the day.

He moves to the kitchen and gives her a kiss;

She’s leaning on the counter, hardly awake.

Refills his cup as she adds creamer to hers,

Soon his lunch is packed, and he’s on his way.

One more kiss, as he heads for the door;

Last minute reminders of plans they’ve made.

A quick ‘I love you’, he’ll remember for sure,

Family and friend, for each one he’s prayed.

He loves his wife,  she’s his best friend,

To keep her close, he’ll strongly contend.

He has his faults, as all men do,

Won’t mention them here for all to see,

but to the love of his life he remains true.

She doesn’t deserve all the love that he gives;

She’s tested him sorely in certain days past.

But together each day, they love…

and they live.

    You\’re very lucky to have such a wonderful husband.

    Sounds like a keeper! My husband’s day usually starts with me yelling from where ever the Parkinson’s got me. He has to get up and rescue me and help me back to bed so I can wait out the human pretzel attack in bed. Not too many husbands have to go through so much, and I would venture a guess that not many would.

    Lucky gal, lucky guy. But, is it really luck at all?

    Love the mutual ‘devotion’ expressed here – well done, Katie

    Wonderful write. Sounds as though he loves you very much, and you have a wonderful life together. And what about these faults that all “men” have, as though you “women” have none. A one-sided opinion for sure. Well done friend.

    I believe you are a nice and loving woman that God gave you a responsible, loving and god-fearing husband. Hope more sweet years for both of you to share.

    @hfj Wasn’t intended as a sexest remark, my dear. Yes, we ALL have faults, all men and all women. I was just comparing him to other men since I wouldn’t consider a woman as an option for a husband, which is the subject of the poem. ;-)

    Sounds like ‘comfortable shoes’ for sure—nice testimony, Katie.

    Nice verses—tho, it’s men like your husband that give the rest of us a bad name.

    A very inspiring poem from someone who lives and loves to the fullest and finds joy to write about it. Thanks for sharing Katie.
