A poem about the hardships of long-distance affection.
How do you tell someone
that you love them
every moment of every day?
How do you let them know
That they’re in your heart
Always?
How do you say it all,
despite being miles away?
Thing is, you can’t.
You can’t because somehow, it’s better this way.
At least, that’s all everyone has to say.
But their slings and arrows of assumed conclusions
Can’t change the way you feel.
Nothing can.
Because they’re prefect aren’t they?
Someone you can’t help but want.
They compliment your very notion of “self”
They make you feel complete.
But you can’t have them.
Because fate has saw fit,
To cast you apart by miles,
And make it impossible,
To properly show your love.
So you sit,
And you wait,
For a love that won’t happen,
No matter how much you want it to.
