A poem about love and purity.
I’m like a pilgrim, on my journey to the house of your heart.
I’ve come to cleanse my soul. Before time does start
To take its deathly toll. Let me see you as you are.
Oh please, oh why, I’ve come this far. No hidden mirrors. No smoke screens.
Let me lose myself in the eternity of you, your purity.
Take a bite of the apple. Take a bite of the world.
And see all mysteries unfurled. No poison, no danger, to taint your lips.
Just I, here, at your fingertips. I’d promise you the world today,
If I thought it would make you say, you’d be loving me forever.
Fair, winged angel of the Heavenly skies,
I’ll promise you a lullaby. To melt your heart and soul in mine.
To taste this love, oh love divine. White and pure and innocent.
With me you only would descend to less than mere perfection.
So let me look at you one last time, before you leave me from my life.
And find someone as good and true and faithful to love you.
I will love you from afar. I will love you, falling star,
Until only your soul doth remain. Through all the snow and wind and rain.
Strongly, though I will refrain from showing you my affection.
