There are buildings designed lavishly but yet appear uninviting, though commercially useful.

Buildings commercially dominant –

Those that do not really seem

Eye-catching nor so prominent,

Seem ageless while in poor esteem.

Those that bear no showy form,

Nor loud, but modest as can be,

Boasting not a grandiose norm,

Content with their simplicity.

Others yet project and beam

A certain magic far above

Showy ones that never seem

To kindle any fervent love.

Better a little cottage old,

Of undiminished clarity,

Than several buildings that unfold

A mere external rarity.

I will take the old cottage with a garden and a old picket fence over a modern day structure. The cottage shows more warmth and character but most of all you can call it home at the end of the day.Liked this!
