This is the girl I love one who is a shadow Shadow of a crime against all humanity Born not of her mother’s womb But of the convoluted currents of stifled sentiments That hurl within the confines of a tortured soul She exists but in a bubble of vacuumed unreality A fictitious personality woven to shield pain waves She exists but in fragments of mental instability An illusion , an alternative way of expulsion Of pent up emotion, half buried, half forgotten
She comes alive in all her resplendent rainbow colours Her vibrant juvenile beauty charismatic and nubile Like a mirage that lures the thirsty amid golden sands Or the comet of fluorescent raining sparks that vanishes Like the moon that melts in the ebon night And again comes alive as a huge platinum orb To paint the dark streams of flowing water in silver The firefly that glows with inherent beauty and purity And loses its radiance at the slightest touch
Elusive though she is she remains within my soul Alive and sparkling as a pearl in an oyster Or is she just a dewdrop readily licked away By the voracious rays of blazing sun of reality A portion of a wilted withered soul A haggard puppet in the hands of cruel fate She appears as a rainbow of spectral hues After the raging storm of emotional trauma Only to fade away in the light of truth
Two souls alive within one body Each oblivious of the existence of another An ailment that needs to be cured And the cure would entail the death of the shadow That fluorescent illusion that I love Who smiles innocently as a daffodil Unaware of the unreality of its existence She must die as the twilight dies Leaving with her refulgent colours
And what would live would be a pale shadow A reality so insipid, like a faded rose One that would resemble you but only As a mirror image Yet somewhere a hope breathes softly That when the pain dies from her eyes You would as a part of her soul Come alive within her No longer an elusive shadow…
