Do people wonder how you can mix certain foods together…and eat them…and consider the mixture to be tasty? Well, here’s one explanation….

I know I’ve never been a cat, a dog, a llama, nor a rat.

I know I’ve never been all that in lives I’ve lived before

because, you see, for me it’s tea, some rhubarb, and some broccoli…

some pudding, pizza, and all that in lives I’ve lived before.

Pistachios, they are so fine…some pickles in a hearty brine

are just a couple perfect snacks from lives I’ve lived before.

Some soup, some cream, some peppers green, some cheese…tomatoes…celery!

some wine that’s sipped from crystal glass in lives I’ve lived before.

The flavors, smell, the smokey tell of meat that’s cooking oh so well…

the juices dripping from a spit in lives I’ve lived before.

Some raisins, dates, a piece of cake, some oatmeal, sugar…anything baked!

Just what,  I wonder,  did I eat in lives I’ve lived before?

Why anything,  my husband says!!  A bug, a cockroach or such pests

as these I’ve been, and he’ll attest to lives I’ve lived before

For only can a bug first eat a scoop of ice cream that’s so sweet…

and then a jalapeno treat!  These lives I’ve lived before!

A wonderful poem, Muriel. That is why I eat what I eat, is it?
You are so clever. You have a real talent for this poetry.

Hi Christine! Yup…my husband swears with the concoctions I make up, I must have been a cockroach in a previous life! Ha ha.

I love the energy and flow! A wonderful and fun read and as always you have a talent for keeping things light! I love reading your stuff, well done!

Hi Debra! Thank you so much:) It was fun to write this after having eaten a tuna fish sandwich with tons of garlic powder shaken on it…then a small bowl of ’strawberry cheesecake’ icecream along with a tall glass of buttermilk which I dearly love!! ^-^

Like the concept of this. I dunk my pizza crusts in soda which everybody says is crazy until they try it.

What a fun poem and it causes all of us to think about what we may call a tastey snack… others may find it rather odd. I hope it was as much fun writing as it was reading.

Hi MrZebra84! Thank you…I wasn’t too sure how this poem would come out because while I was trying to write, my kitties were ‘flowing’ over my feet and keyboard! :)

Hi Joe! Okay…I may hate myself but I have to ask…what flavor of soda? ^-^

Hi Karelee! It was fun to write but even better when watching my husband’s agreement with it!! Ha ha!

Hi Spiritwalker! What a beautiful name! I’m glad you liked it because it was an answer to my husband’s frequent question of, “How on earth can you eat that…!!” :)

wow,I enjoyed this so much but it made me hungry.

  • M J katz on Apr 3, 2009

Hi Dee Gold! I know what you mean…after writing this, I had a quick snack of some canned smoked oysters on pretzel crackers as well as some green olives on the side! Writing about food is not a good thing for me to do!! :)
