Poem about a life-changing instant of time,
I was sitting, being miserable, when I heard that opening door
I looked up and in that moment my life changed forevermore
She was not the prettiest, but the fire shining in those eyes,
was holding me enraptured, which I just could not disguise.
She came across, and looking down, said Hi, are you my blind date?
I had to that, no so say I wasn’t, but in a very strange quirk of fate
Her mobile rang, and her face fell, when the text message was read
On impulse I said, bad news? Could I not be your blind date instead?
Smiling she sat, and I got her a drink, and in the blinking of an eye
We were chatting like we’d been friends forever, no proper reason why
as if lovers in earlier lives, we seemed to suit one another so well
time flew by, and we knew instinctively that we had begun to gel
twenty years on, and that flash is still there, when I look into those eyes
an intimate knowledge of my soul, she makes no attempt to disguise
We fit together like hand in glove, and have done from the first
Knowing in that moment of recognition, a heart just fit to burst
Many would wish to explain it, to understand the message in that spark
It really is quite simple, you must to your primal instincts hark
For they convey, in that moment, the most important event of your life
The meeting of minds, finding the woman who will become your wife
It happens in the blink of an eye, as souls, through glances meet
Answer the call, when it comes your way, and your life will be complete.
