9th of August is Singapore’s 46th National Day.
A patriotic and rule-abiding citizen is here to share her thoughts, lol.

9th of August is Singapore National Day

It’s an off day for most people, hurray!

Some will participate in the parade

Or be audience wearing white and red

Some go shopping, to pay and pay

While some fly kites at Marina Bay

I am afraid of the crowd nowadays

So you shall see me at home stay

TV programmes I have lost my faith

Though may just watch the parade

Guess I will on computer play and play

I sound like not so patriotic people say

They are wrong, I just do my own way

My love for the country not shown on face

Rule-abiding citizen, most of the rules I obey

Tomorrow is my country Independence Day

I now shouting “Majulah Singapura”, yay!

last year’s version :

Majulah Singapura” is the national anthem of Singapore. It means “Onward Singapore”.

Thanks friends for your comments in advance.

Over here, we don’t call it Independence Day though it’s actually one.. we call it National Day, but nowadays they keep saying “Happy Birthday” I find a bit funny..

majulah singapura? similar word with indonesian? hahaha.. on 17th august later “majulah Indonesia” :D

  • Michal Dorcak on Aug 11, 2011

Haha, similar dates are pretty much always ignored by people here in Slovakia. No one cares when the republic became into being, when the WWII ended, when Slovakian national uprising started during WWII, when Slovakia ceased to be part of the Hungarian part of Austrian empire and became a part of CzechoSlovakia, etc… further and further into the past. People only care when their birthday is, when Christmas is (and similar holidays) … Actually, most people here do not even know our national athem and anybody waving the flag around is either considered an ice hockey fan (if the world cup or how is it called is taking place) or crazy Nazi (if there is no international ice hockey event going on).
