Discipline and the want are all that you need. My advice is given freely, it’s up to you if you heed….

I have fun on Triond, but also sell my wares

As well as give some pleasure, to anyone who cares

They read and they comment, and I thank them for that

But global economic downturn, is also where I’m at

So as well as enjoying the things that I do

To make pennies from it I have to try too

Some lessons I’ve learned along the way

Are to read, write and market every day

Read others work, learn from the rest

Use that knowledge in your own work and make it the best

Writing about what you know fills a niche

But also write how to make great salmon quiche!

Vary your work if you’ve no expertise

Write about allsorts in a way that will please

Research on Google, type a question and find

The ones that many people seem to ask all the time

The info is there, as plain as can be

The numbers follow suggested entries you’ll see

So write about things or knowledge people seek

Your hits are guaranteed to grow week by week

When you’ve submitted, click the page where they put it

They have this strange habit of altering things a bit

If that’s what they’ve done, then tell them so

Submit your fix and away you go

The one thing I’d recommend in your mission

Is to market each and every single submission

There’s Twitter and Google and Facebook and more

Digg, Jayde and Stumble, and Bukisa, there’s four

Marketing is the only way you’ll make money

Sell your Nectar far and wide and it’s sure to make honey

However small it may be, it’s a business at heart

So marketing your product is a crucial part

Set targets, perhaps two submissions a day

Quality will sell, and good marketing will pay

I’m sure you’re all bored now, though in rhyme it’s quite nice

So I’ll wind it all up, with a reminder of my advice

Write what you know but throw in variety

Get published on Scienceray but also Socyberty

Check published items, spelling and presentation

If Triond mess it up, submit a fix with notation

Then market your work, sell your wares high and low

And slowly but surely your daily visits will grow…..

Great Advice and so well delivered.

Great article and some really good ideas that work – some I have used, some I am starting to use. I particularly like the idea, write about making salmon quiche.
I would like to make a suggestion to those who write – I am including links in my articles to other or my articles. Triond quit showing the “Other articles by (this author)” on most sites I publish on. I have started posting links to other like articles at the end of every article. It is easy, copy the names of the articles on your list of published, (I put them into a word doc, in fact I have a word doc with all links) then click the fix pen on an article, paste the links into the bottom of the article with a header “Other Articles by ”

Use a reason, Add links. They seem to appear immediately so it appears they do not edit.

Sorry, the good writing practices link is to one of my articles on writing better. It covers some ones that look bad like the misuse of there, their and they’re.

Wonderfully done… both the information and the presentation… much better then quiche.

Great advice! I’m using some of the tools named here, but apparently not all.
