An original poem by Aubrey Lambach.
Clear, round, spherical glass,
Held tightly in your palm.
You open up your clenched fist
And let it see the sun.
Inside the ball is a ribbon
Of fire, ice and sky.
The marbled glass traps the light,
Now the shadow’s at your back.
It cannot be unlocked,
This mystery within.
It is static, yet it is flowing,
Delicate and thin.
You want to reach the hued river
That is trapped inside the glass,
To hold it between your fingers,
Finally have the answers in your hand.
But to reach the pigments,
You need to break its shell.
Crack the glass that surrounds it,
Sever what is whole.
Scary, yes, but beautiful,
Liberating and true.
You never need to fear the colors
That reside inside of you.
