Typical behavior.
Now home from school,
Calling my best friend on the phone
Putting off studying,
Not caring if the test is blown
Mom and Dad in the door,
Putting off priorities they will not condone
She asks me if I have homework,
To her the truth is unknown
I answer her quickly,
Hoping she wont notice my tone
My chances at raising my grade,
I have chosen to screw up on my own
I know that Mom talks to my teachers,
Soon the truth to her will be known
She is now asking me to explain,
Why this childish behavior I have not outgrown
As she looks at me with disappointment,
Her eyes as cold as stone
I know what is coming next,
I’m grounded, anything fun is postponed
As I sit in my bedroom,
In big trouble and alone
I ask myself why,
To this behavior I am prone
They open my door to say they love me,
Despite all we will never disown
