My sentiments when I returned home to Maui where I was raised.
I bring tears to the arms of the sea
This isle of my childhood
Beckoning me
Her lush valleys veined as a hand
Emerald seas whose white foam
Reaches out to my hand
Crayon craters, cinder cones
Rounding edges in form
Scent of ginger, gardenia after a rain
Snorkeling, swimming
Crabs drilling holes in the sand
Rapture in an endless sea
Horses stirring the sand, pawing the reef
Astride them undaunted by pounding waves
Surfing the curl, dropping out from crests
Sliding shore ward with winds of caress
I stare across the ocean
Emotions, breakers crashing wildly
Then softly rolling, evaporating
Like the morning tide
