I suffer from depression and endured years of bullying at school, usually at the hands of my so-called friends. Girls are mean. As much as I hated them, I came to hate myself more for being unable to stop their tormenting behavior. This poem captures some of the feelings.

I hate them all

spring and fall

excuses and seasons

are just the reasons

you are all so mean

my pain is unseen

teasing and mocking

forever stalking

letting my rage go

wouldn’t you like to know

hitting my head upon the door

a broken mirror on the floor

hides the truth you will not see

my biggest enemy is me.

I suffer from depression and endured years of bullying at school, usually at the hands of my so-called friends. Girls are mean. As much as I hated them, I came to hate myself more for being unable to stop their tormenting behavior. I inflicted physical pain on myself later almost as a way to cope with the unseen emotional pain.

Stop it! Your deprepession if any is not cause by any bullying at school. That’s crap. If anything it’s your obsession with bugs.

Bullies are devastating to a child. I feel so bad for these children who are bullied every day at school. It should not be allowed and there should be policies in place to put a stop to it.

ha ha to Kens comment above. indeed my depression formed long before I was bullied.
Ken refers to the fact that I have kept pet insects, in his comment for anyone who fails to understand his humor.

You are so right about girls. Its the cunning way that they use emotion to destroy self esteem. My daughter is 8 years old and I have seen her in tears when a so called friend does something that hurts her to her core.

    What a shame.

I love what you wrote for the honesty. You are brave today inspite of the past.

I’m sorry to hear it, and of course you are not alone. People consistently fail to realise just how much damage their words can do. A sad but brave write. Thanks for playing again dude.

Captivating, Brenda! I went through it as well, but it made me a strong woman. You too, I think.
