I never new I’d see the day

When you’d surely come my way

And all those little things you’d say

Just to pass the time away

So many years have come and gone

You’ve brightened my days with your special song

Chatting away at things unseen

Your bright colors in yellow and green

Your whimsical bobbing oh so sweet

Oh my little parakeet

You knocked your companion off her feet

And everyone else you’d meet

Now it’s been nearly your 15th year

The time had come that I had feared

I spoke to you while that moment neared

And knew that I would shed some tears

Nothing is ever here to stay

I’m happy for our time to play

But I knew in time you may

Fly up to the sky one day
