Just read it.
Melted Plastic
Steps on the walk of an endless mile.
The road disappears,
I look to the horizon and smile
All alone.
Just sand and a breeze.
The dunes cry out as I hit my knees.
The tears sizzle,
With no one else to hear.
Buzzards circle far, then near.
Waiting for the moment I say…
“…I quit.”
Open my eyes,
Stand up,
And spit.
“Just keep on steppin’… ”
Blows from the air around me
“Keep steppin’, you’ll see”
Pitter-patter of worn worn out Nikes,
Then, in a moment,
Someone’s beside me
“See the cloud way over there?”
“That’s where we’re going,
comb your hair.”
“Take off those shoes,
Tuck in your shirt!
Stand up straight,
Here’s a towel for the dirt!”
Trumpets blast,
And then I know.
I’m all dressed up…
With somewhere to go.
