The effects of good and bad memories on a person’s life.

Memories that are stored

revealing the good times,

are like lemonade and lime

or a soothing wine,

that hits the spot going down.

The memories of the bad times

leaves a bad taste,

and are quickly rushed out in haste.

It can be so relaxing

to think of a pleasant memory,

that can create a mellowed out state.

Sometimes, this can set you up as bait,

for those things that can irritate.

It becomes impossible

to receive rest,

for these little trolls

will bother you at your best.

Ready to torture with each coming day

and mess things up all along the way.

At the first stitch of a happy feeling

they can run into you reeling.

They suck your life out from under you.

They know exactly what to do,

and know just how to mess with you.

The solution is to drown these trolls

that bring the bad memories to light,

use your happiest thoughts

 with all of your might.

The little buggers will be

pushed back into your subconscious

and will not be allowed

to be conjured up,

forever gone from mental thought or sight.

DB…This is a wonderful poem about the effects that memories can have in and on our lives. We can try and forget bad memories, but “those little buggers” keep returning to haunt us…I think they are the work of Satan who uses them and anything within his power to put and hold us down. Thanks for sharing…and it is enlightening to know that I am not the only one burdened with bad memories.
    Edit…
“you up as bate…” should be “you up as bait…”
P.S. Can you believe that I get to post a comment again? Wonders and miracles never cease…
