An open-ended love poem, with an ending that makes you wonder, what next?
Your friendship with them sparked a change.
You looked different.
You were different.
Your walk was more confident;
your smile, more pure.
I could see the fire inside of your heart.
It was encouraging.
Once again,
more of our time was consumed by the other than should have been.
Intentions on both parts were much different,
and yet not much different at all.
You were interested,
whether because of genuine feelings or naivety I am unaware.
I was focused on comradery,
but that was not the only thought in my mind.
Following one spontaneous trip,
and with plans for another
(this one much longer),
we both became aware that clarification was needed.
More missives were written,
more conversations had,
the beginning of conclusions were drawn.
We defined our relationship as two interested people unable to commit.
Unintendedly,
that conclusion enabled us to lower our walls,
instead of reinforce them.
Our emotional relationship became more intimate than was deliberate.
Had we continued,
dating would have become nothing more than physical.
We were two interested people in love with Jesus.
More in love with Jesus than with human romance.
Two people struggling with their flesh.
Two people who longed to fellowship with their Father,
knowing that someday,
if it is best,
He will bless them with a mate.
