A poem about a recent project I started.

I wrote the words
With loving care
Signed my name
Placed to share
Rolled the paper
Made it thin
Uncorked the bottle
And slipped it in
I sealed it up
Closed and tight
Then threw it in
With all my might
It made a splash
But began to float
Drifting away
Carrying my note
I stood and watched
It bob from sight
Disappearing
Into the twilight
Then returning home
A few days later
On the table
There lay a letter
A fishing family
Had found my note
Upon the river
They seen it afloat
Being so kind
They wrote a reply
Grateful were we
My cousin and I
For we had sent our hopes
Along with that bottle
That the message be found
On its watery wattle
It had traveled south
To City Island
Where the family found it
And pulled it to dry land
So for our project
The first part now complete
We’ll wait and see who
Bottle #2 will meet.
(Note: I would like to send out a special thank you to Rosa, Harry, and their children. They are the family that found our message and sent us the special letter!)
(Also: To anyone reading this, please keep a look out for my future article about our Message In A Bottle Project. I will explain about the project farther and will include photos and possibly videos! All the people who respond to our bottle messages will also be formally thanked!)
I will post that article sometime in the future when we hopefully have a few responses!
