Welcome, to the real world.
Metronomic Disenchantment
Do you hear the endless metronome’s tick?
It’s such a dreadful monotonous thing.
It’s forever more the same sound,
Echoing over the flowered ground.
Forever that sound of torment will ring.
So many minds has it stricken sick.
You see this world as a pretty place.
If only that were the honest truth.
It’s all just a lie,
As pure as the sky.
Just wait and you’ll soon see the proof.
That steady tick will pull you from grace.
All these flowers that you see are gone.
So what is it that you really see?
You see only what they want you to,
They control what you see and do.
They manipulate us with wicked glee.
To them you’re no more than a pawn.
Just give it time, the truth you’ll know.
Soon the flowers will melt away.
Don’t you cry now little one,
You won’t be hurt by the darkened sun.
It’s the least of your worries I must say.
You’ll much sooner die from the frigid snow.
Can you see what it is I’ve always seen?
I had to show you the truth before I was taken!
Here come the men in coats of white,
We must give up, it’s pointless to fight.
If you think you can run then you’re much mistaken.
Surely you understand with a mind so keen.
The steady tick is always the same.
If you listen you’ll know the truth of it all.
Surely deep inside you can feel,
That nothing here is ever real.
The only truth you will find is the wall
That holds us inside this forever game.
